Light up the night for Operation Smile was a complete success! More than 300 people participated in the event and they raised over $6000 for the charity! The runners were excited and dressed in interesting costumes featuring glow in the dark accessories. The night was breezy due to consistent light rain, but a great alternative to running in the heat. Pedro, Rex and Adam took advantage of everything that Baton Rouge had to offer which included go-cart races and exploring the nightlife. They also made time to gain valuable business lessons from multiple business owners from Louisiana and Kentucky.
Strategic Campaigns is participating in “Light up the night for Operation Smile” in Baton Rouge, Louisiana this Saturday, July 23rd. This is a one-mile family walk and a 5k run where participants can be creatively incorporate lights and other glow objects in their running gear.
Operation Smile is a charitable organization that provides surgeries to children with cleft lips and palates all over the world. As the night falls, attention will be on the supporting families that are lighting up the night by running and walking for Operation Smile.
This Wednesday Pedro will be taking two of our corporate trainers to our office in Baton Rouge to participate in the charity event and for the learning experience as well. This trip is a privilege that they earned through their sales, excellent attitudes, and ability to train others. SCI prides itself on having a merit-based system, so they are being rewarded for their hard work. The week will be full of learning with ample amounts of fun and good food also!
People who are strong-minded aren’t hard to pick out of a crowd but true mental toughness is sometimes hard to find. Toughness is not usually seen in the actions of a person, rather in the reaction of that person. If you know someone who seems to be a mental rock, they seem to know what they want and know how to get it. People that are mentally tough have an answer to every question, an idea for every circumstance and they strive and excel in times when faced with panic or failure. We all aspire to gain or sharpen our mental toughness and there are six major characteristics of mental toughness:
CONFIDENCE: Having the belief in yourself may increase your mental toughness if applied correctly. If you believe in your ability to succeed, then you are preparing yourself for success and bracing yourself in case of obstacles.
FOCUS: When a person cannot stay focused it is easy for them to mentally collapse in high pressure situations. The ability to concentrate on the task at hand and stay focused on that task is an unbelievably important skill that cannot seem master.
MOTIVATION: Have you ever been excited about a goal and then weeks later you lose your excitement? Of course you have, everyone has. Finding motivation is easy, keeping motivation is a challenge. Motivation ties from the lack of or a shift of focus. In situations when the climb is uphill, motivation, focus, and resiliency should be your best friends.
COURAGE: Remember that being courageous is not being fearless; rather it is having fear but acting as if you don’t. Acts of courage are usually accompanied by a mountain of fear but a courageous person will do what they have to do in order to get done that which has to get done.
COMPOSURE: There are a lot of good synonyms for composure such as self-possession, coolness, equanimity and control. In tough situations its important to keep your composure to better asses and tackle the challenge at hand.
RESILIENCY: It doesn’t matter how confident, focused, motivated, courageous, or composed you are, if you do not see your goal at the end then it may turn out to be pointless. Being resilient is pushing through until you reach your destination!
The theme in the office this week is goal setting and having a crystallized vision of what you want to achieve. “People with goals succeed because they know where they are going. It’s as simple as that.” – Earl Nightingale Setting personal and professional goals are imperative, especially if you have big things you want to accomplish. Remez Sasson has compiled a list of the top 7 strategies to achieve your goals.
- Find out what is it that you want to achieve. Write a one-sentence definition of your goal. Work on this sentence until it is clear and to the point.
- Read this sentence several times before falling asleep at night, and upon waking up in the morning.
- Visualize your goal for some minutes, several times a day. In your mind’s eye see your goal as achieved.
- Keep an expectant mood and with an open mind. This will help you become more attentive and aware of ideas and opportunities that will come your way, and which will help you achieve your goal.
- Exercise your will power and self-discipline to keep your focus on the goal, and to stick to your resolve to succeed. Do not let anything distract you or make you deviate from your goal.
- Go on, even if there are obstacles on the way or you see no progress. Those who persevere succeed.
- Silence is power. Do not talk too much on what you want to achieve. Concentrate on doing, not on talking. Too much talking with others about your desires and goals dissipate your inner powers. Learn to concentrate and channel your energy toward achieving your goal.
We will achieve zero of the goals we don’t set. Don’t be afraid to set big goals for yourself and be willing to do what it takes to reach them. Nothing feels better than accomplishing a goal you have put in the time and effort into attaining!
We’re back to business after an impressing conference in Nashville, Tennessee this last weekend. The conference gave us an opportunity to hear speakers from the largest outsourced sales and marketing company in the world. There was also a guest speaker, Brian Shay, the Senior Vice President of AT&T! Following up the amazing speakers and workshops there was an outstanding award ceremony accompanied by a lavish dinner. Top performing administrators in the HR field were awarded with jewelry from Tiffany & Co. Managers whose companies have had the most growth recently were awarded with Tiffany & Co. cuff links for the men and Tiffany & Co. bracelets for the ladies.
Pedro Segura, President of Strategic Campaigns, was awarded an amazing set of Tiffany & Co. cuff links for his hard work and the growth of his organization in the past year. This award couldn’t have been done without the dedication of the people in our company that were also awarded for their achievements, Nadia Tran, Megan Hammer, Richard Conn, and Kevin Hearn. These awards were representations of the hard work from an entire office and the cohesion of a strong organization, not just the individuals who received them. Congratulations Strategic Campaigns!
